Suggestions Needed

6 days until the scariest event in the history of time will happen:

Mike and I will become parents.

Dum, dum, dum!

(Oh my gosh, that sounds even scarier in print than in my head.)

(Yes, I know my ticker to the right of the screen says 9 days to go today, but because this little girl already has her father's stubborn nature (ha! further proof that she is his, despite his objections), she has refused to flip around and is still breech. Which means we have a c-section scheduled for April 12th. Yes, I know some of you will *insert gasp here!* And I know there are a lot of people out there who have very strong opinions against c-sections (and believe me, I think I've heard them ALL recently), it is going to be medically necessary in our case.)

Anyway, back to the topic at hand:

Unfortunately for this little girl, she has yet to be named. And no, we promise we're really not holding out and just not telling anyone her name until she is born.

SHE REALLY DOESN'T HAVE A NAME.

Not being one of those girls who had their babies names picked out since Jr. High, this has been a real challenge for us.

Auntie Karen tried to help with this at one of my baby showers by playing "Name Melissa's Baby" with Scrabble tiles. (The best name to come out of that was "Damn." So, then we could call her "The Damn Baby." Hilarious. At least Mike and I thought so.)

Mike's work also had a "Name Mike's Baby" Contest, which basically resulted in us having to veto the name "Swoop" over and over again.

Those who saw our registry know that Mike named her Beelezub on there, causing Mike's family to tentatively pick up the name "Beezus." (Or, Mike's preferred spelling: BeeZus.)

At this point, we're considering waiting until she's old enough to pick her own name so the pressure is off us. (And by then she'll probably be 3 years old and want to be called "Barbie," "Cinderella" or "Rapunzel." Great.)

So, consider this as an open call for suggestions.

Otherwise, Mike wants to name her "Sindi." (Yes, that's Cindy with an "S" and an "i."

I'm pretty sure there would be a pole in her future with a spelling like that.)

You can do it. You can name the baby, we believe in you. And if you can't Rapunzel's not that bad she'll be the most popular girl in preschool... Although 3rd grade (and every grade after that) might be a little hard.

BeeZus won't work. This is Utah, you have to have two Z's in all names. BeeZZus would be fine.

Don't sweat the c-section. I had to have 3. Aimee has had 3. All medically necessary. I think it must run in the family. And all of you turned out just fine. Well....

Yeah! I can't wait to meet your cute little one in just a few days. Good luck with everything. As far as baby names, well good luck. They have a baby name book at the hospital. Lance and I took a few glances at that while in labor. You may have to barrow that while you are recovering! :) We wish you all the best!!

You'll figure it out. I like KayDee, Charlotte (Charlie), what about something like Annalee or Annilee, and then she's named after you, Melissa Ann! KennaDee? Kay was almost Lynnlee? Aislyn? April? Hailee? Halle? I know, no H names. Jolie? Joslyn? Kaycee? Reagan? Lily? Kaylee says, "Lucy!"

I can see that I'm a little late, seeing as how you are probably holding the little dear right now. And I really don't have any suggestions for you because we are cheating and using family names. I do like the name Esther, but Esther Hurst just doesn't really sound that good. That's all I got... :) Can't wait to meet her!!!!

Ha ha ha! Melissa, you two are so funny. :) Let us know if you've picked a name or not! If not, all of the ones listed sound great. And @Sarah: two of my three girls are Avery and Charlotte!
